As Georgian military is attacking, bombing and shelling the South Osetia (Ossetia) territory and civilian settlements and positions of the peacekeeping forces in particular from the Georgian territory (outside of Osetia) Russian military has to shut those sources of death and destruction. As artillery positions and airbases are located on the territory of Georgia - that territory is bombed. In contrast to the actions of Georgian military, there are no numerous civil victims, although there may be some injured by accident. More then that, Russia is shelling and bombing military camps, to prevent more assaults on South Osetia. Sea port to prevent military shipments into Georgia.
It would be criminal act to sit in Osetia while shells and rockets are falling on innocent people heads, without attempts to stop the murders.
As to the Georgian civilians dead near the military bases, I think Russian commanders are in great regret of those victims, as I am and they do everything possible to avoid those casualties.
It is a bit late for this now, but those living near military camps should be protesting when those camps were built and populated with military, as all the Georgians should be more careful voting for Saakashvili, as his fascist orientation was noticable long before he started to murder civilians, more then 2000 (from 60000 of South Osetia population) is dead now.
