These 2 (estdomains.com and esthost.com) looked attractive in terms of payment methods and prices. Actually I even have few domains registered with estdomains and was considering becoming their reseller.
But today they are both down. Whois cannot get information about domains registered with estdomains. I wonder what is happening and what will happen to domains registered with the registrar which is down...
Good I did not moved my hosting from hostgator to esthost.
UPDATE: the esthost/estdomains is got disconnected from the network, discussion in Russian can be found here: http://www.master-x.com/forum/topics/109090/page/25/
I wonder if that is connected to this rants on Washington Post somehow?
http://voices.washingtonpost.com/securityfix/2008/09/estdomains.html
http://voices.washingtonpost.com/securityfix/2008/09/estdomains_a_sordid...
Actually, after reading the 2nd story, I would say "yes, those stories are linked". So, time to move from estdomains/esthost (if you still can).
Hehe, the story also has a funny (if you not hosted/registered with Est) twist of "Russian mafia".
Here is an info how to initiate transfer domain from estdomains.com if you are unlucky enough to have a domain name with them
1. Their control panel is also available on http://24572.supersite.myorderbox.com/
2. You can add these 2 lines to your hosts file (
67.15.47.4 storefront.estdomains.com
67.15.47.4 estsecure.com www.estsecure.com
Then navigate to storefront.estdomains.com
You won't see the pictures, but you can initiate transfer, some are reporting it is working, some still having problems doing so.
Update2:
esthost.com is up, with a warning message that they are experiencing problems.
estdomains.com has some instructions on how to move domains.
Looks like they are solving their problems, but I still doubt they can be a company on which your online presense is relied upon
