To be honest, I'm not playing either pool or Russian billiards much lately.
I used to play much more often, although playing at amateur level. I never actually learned to play seriously, like buying books, playing with instructor etc. I was just playing with my friends and learning from practice and from them, one of them did read the book, I think that explains why he was winning most of times.
Also, I was big fan of the "virtual pool", it was really great game. And scoring perfect hits there was so satisfactory and easy, as you have perfect shot there, and your elbow wont go moving during the shot, you wont miss the white ball etc. What virtual pool lacked though - is a way to find the opponent and play anytime you feel like getting to the virtual board with real opponent...
Looks like that idea finally realized, they even added the money for some virtual pool aces to win money from virtual amateurs like me (if I ever play for money, which I doubt). Actually the only thing I found lacking badly is their banner design... You won't believe me, but this one is the least ugly and flashing of them...
